65% of businesses saw an enhanced SEO outcome after adopting the use of artificial intelligence, according to a report.
The report by SaaS provider Semrush, “Think big with AI,” said 35% of the sample was not aware SEO could be augmented by generative AI tools.
A further 37% of those surveyed reported a lack of training around AI, leading to the tech being underutilised for SEO.
Among the sample, out of the companies that claim to be most effective with their SEO efforts, 83% are using AI tools.
Optimising meta tags and clustering specific keywords are functions of AI that will positively contribute to SEO effectiveness, the report said.
The technology is also set to improve SEO in the future, with competitive keywords, topics, and platforms raising the bar on what establishments can and must do to stand out.
Upcoming threats to SEO success come in the form of search engine results pages (SERPs). Google’s search-generative experience displays AI answers to many search queries.
To combat this, the report advises marketing professionals to provide experiences that can’t be easily replaced by simple AI summaries.
The report is based on an analysis of over 2,600 global businesses, examining the role of AI in content creation and optimisation.
