Price comparison website Compare the Market has renewed its “Meerkat Movies” partnership for another five years.
The partnership serves as a marketing tool for its TV, radio, and outdoor advertising and drives awareness to the Compare the Market brand.
Over 44 million people have benefitted from free cinema tickets since 2015, saving UK cinemagoers £162 million, the company said in a press release.
“By shopping around for insurance or other household bills, people could save money on their leisure activities,” the press release said.
Iain Jacob, chair of cross-industry body Cinema First, added: “Meerkat Movies is one of those rare and precious collaborations that benefits all; audiences get to see amazing films for less, the programme brings magic to the Compare the Market brand and the cinema sector reaches yet more people in the UK.”
At a time when many UK households are experiencing budget pressures, the offer allows cinemagoers to enjoy the latest films on a budget, said the press release.
“Meerkat Movies” offers eligible customers a free ticket to go to the cinema on a Tuesday or Wednesday each week.
Customers can get a one-year membership to the scheme by purchasing a qualifying product via the price comparison website.
