Financial influencers, or “finfluencers” as they’re more commonly known, have become heavily associated with cryptocurrency and credit products in the B2C space.
Consumers invest their trust and time into those with a large following, often with little regard for their area of expertise. Familiarity is seemingly better received than qualification.
Social media platforms that were once a place for selfies and viral videos have become a hub for the younger generation to seek financial advice. For financial marketers trying to access the minds of the new generation, this space can no longer be ignored.
However, misleading or false financial advice litters social media platforms, prompting to new regulation that is redefining the shift.
In July 2023, the Financial Conduct Authority launched a consultation into financial promotion across social media. The regulations, still yet to be published, will set out the regulator’s expectations for influencers and supporting firms.
As new obstacles are proposed, a familiar question returns: is it worth incorporating influencers into financial marketing strategies, or is it just another fad?
During this session, our speakers will voice their takes on influencer marketing, gain insight on how to successfully navigate this changing space, and weigh up the pros and cons.
Join us to explore the essential skills for tomorrow’s financial marketer at FP Live! on 18 March at London’s America Square Conference Centre. Our full agenda can be found on our website, along with our impressive speaker roster.
