Investec is the latest company to tap into sports sponsorship – this time with a focus on sustainability.
The bank and wealth manager has announced its position as new title partner of the Investec Champions Cup.
In a press release, Investec has said that it will work with European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) to progress towards “a carbon-neutral tournament, advancing the women’s game and developing innovative financial solutions and wellness programmes tailored to players.”
The emphasis on sustainability follows the launch of EPCR’s new sustainability strategy, impACT.
Abey Mokgwatsane, Investec’s chief marketing officer, said: “The Investec Champions Cup embodies Out of the Ordinary sporting achievement and is a fantastic platform to further innovate in diversity, sustainability, and financial solutions.
“As an organisation firmly rooted in our purpose to create enduring worth, we look forward to partnering with the EPCR to create transformational value for spectators, players and communities.”
The sponsorship follows Investec’s long history of sporting partnerships, such as England Rugby, Super Rugby Aotearoa, the Rugby Championship, and the Investec International Rugby Academy (South Africa).
The firm has also tapped into sponsorship in women’s sport – particularly within hockey and golf – and hope to promote the women’s game in partnership with EPCR.
Investec’s title sponsorship of the Champions Cup has replaced former sponsor Heineken.
