2024 Blackstone holiday video: a review
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a holiday video from Blackstone, and this year they’ve ramped up the laughs with a country-flavoured romp that parodies the world of reality TV.
In a deft nod to post-modern comedy trends, they’ve gone ‘meta’ by self-referencing last year’s Taylor Swift "Eras" tour-inspired video, which took their executives on the road with hilarious consequences.
It kicks off with senior executives, including a cameo from BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, bemoaning the ridicule heaped on them in the wake of the 2023 video.
The ‘solution’ turns out to be a series of global reality TV spoofs, including Love Island, culminating in a camp-as-Christmas, all-(executive)-star country and western song riffing on the benefits of private equity.
In reality, last year’s video garnered over 8 million views, so Blackstone evidently know they are onto a good thing. Long may they continue to make us laugh while highlighting their investment market prowess.
