Revolut has launched a new multi-channel campaign to encourage Irish bank personal banking customers to switch to the fintech brand.
The campaign which leads with the catch line “the salary wants out of old banks” is designed to stimulate bank account switching in the Irish personal account market where there is currently very low levels of movement between providers.
In a media statement, the company said the number of people who have switched their bank account in Ireland stands at around 5% of all account holders.
“Our prominence in Ireland and the 2.8 million customers we have attracted to date comes down to two key factors; the shortfalls of Ireland’s incumbent banks and our market-leading financial app in comparison,” said Antoine Le Nel, partner and chief growth and marketing officer at Revolut.
“As a fully-licensed European bank that offers Irish IBANs, Ireland has been one of our most saturated markets for some time.”
The campaign launched in Dublin today (1 July) in out of home (OOH), audio visual, social and digital formats. It is scheduled to roll out across Europe, beginning in Spain and France at the beginning of September.
“We want to jolt people into asking why on earth they keep their income in a traditional bank,” said Camilla Harrisson, chief executive officer of agency Anomaly London.
“It costs them money, makes access difficult and gives them little financial or personal reward. By shooting this campaign in a disused branch of a traditional bank, we are making a powerful statement about where banking is heading.”
