NP Paribas Fortis, the Belgium-based subsidiary of BNP Paribas, has become the title sponsor of the 10th European Open, Belgium’s only ATP 250 tournament.
The sponsorship of the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open aligns with the bank’s long-standing commitment to tennis, a sport it has supported for over 50 years.
Through this partnership, the bank aims to strengthen its international profile while deepening its local engagement with customers, employees, and partners.
Stephan Kabongo, head of sponsorship and events at BNP Paribas Fortis, said: “This new partnership is particularly close to our hearts for several reasons. First of all, it strengthens our position as the number one partner of tennis in Belgium, continuing our long-standing commitment alongside BNP Paribas at the international level,
“Secondly, it allows us to offer new unique experiences to our customers, partners and employees around a major sporting event. Finally, we want to help the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open grow and become an essential feature of our country’s tennis and events calendar.”
The European Open is part of BNP Paribas Fortis’s broader sponsorship strategy, which focuses on tennis, culture and cinema. Tennis, in particular, reflects the bank’s organisational values of respect, excellence and diversity, and provides opportunities to connect with the community through accessible sporting events.
BNP Paribas currently supports more than fifteen professional tournaments worldwide, including able-bodied and wheelchair events, one Grand Slam and three Masters 1000 competitions. This underscores its role as a committed partner from grassroots to elite levels.
Locally, the bank has backed eight international tournaments across Wallonia, Flanders and Brussels this year, helping young Belgian players gain experience at high-level competitions.
In addition, the bank’s Tennis Affinity Program, which was launched in 2017, has provided essential tennis equipment to over 200 clubs—nearly one-third of clubs in Belgium—further embedding BNP Paribas Fortis in the country’s tennis community.
Its partnership with the Justine Henin Academy has also been extended until 2028, supporting young players aged 12 to 18 with high-level sporting and educational development.
Through this title sponsorship, BNP Paribas Fortis continues to promote Belgian tennis while creating engaging experiences for its stakeholders, demonstrating the bank’s long-term commitment to both sport and local communities.
