Mastercard has teamed up with the Jonas Brothers, who have kicked off the brand’s latest initiative to raise money for Stand Up to Cancer.
Building on its 15 years of support for Stand Up to Cancer, Mastercard has launched a new initiative encouraging customers to use their Mastercard to back cancer research and spread the word on social media.
Until 22 August, Mastercard will donate one cent per tap or online order made at participating restaurants and supermarkets, pledging up to $5 million for Stand Up to Cancer.
Mastercard has also encouraged customers to post about their support for the initiative and Stand Up to Cancer using the hashtag #StandUpWithMastercard. The company will highlight selected posts across its social media channels.
To activate the initiative, Mastercard surprised Jonas Brothers fans and their loved ones affected by cancer with an intimate live performance.
Guests were originally invited to share their personal cancer stories but were met with a special appearance by the Jonas Brothers, who debuted their new single, “I Can’t Lose,” from their upcoming album.
Rustom Dastoor, EVP of marketing and communications for the Americas at Mastercard, said: “Our partnership with the Jonas Brothers is more than just creating a unifying anthem to raise awareness for a cause; it’s about inspiring cardholders to join us in supporting Stand Up To Cancer. When we come together, we know that we can make a difference.”
Over the course of its 15-year partnership with Stand Up to Cancer, Mastercard has raised more than $75 million to help advance the charity’s mission to end cancer.
