Standard Chartered put its Liverpool FC initiative in the spotlight during last night’s match with Manchester United (October 19).
During the match, Liverpool wore ‘Play On’ as their front-of-shirt logo to raise awareness of a joint initiative with Standard Chartered aimed at keeping girls in sport.
The initiative, launched in 2023, recognises that many girls drop out of sports too soon, missing out on the crucial soft skills that participation in sport can develop and that last a lifetime. To address this, the initiative breaks down barriers that prevent girls from continuing in sport, providing access to opportunities, inspiring confidence, and promoting representation to ensure more girls can stay engaged.
Following the match, the shirts will be signed by the players and auctioned on MatchWornShirt, with proceeds going to the Standard Chartered Foundation, which supports underserved young people, particularly women.
This follows Liverpool FC Women featuring the ‘Play On’ logo during their match against Manchester City in L4 last weekend, continuing the campaign to raise awareness and support for girls in sport.
