Standard Chartered has reaffirmed its commitment to raising awareness of the impacts of extreme weather and climate change by renewing its sponsorship of the Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year competition.
For the third consecutive year, Standard Chartered will return as the title sponsor of the UK Royal Meteorological Society’s weather and climate photography competition.
The competition will serve as an international platform for Standard Chartered to raise awareness of environmental issues that put the planet at risk, including heatwaves, cyclones and extreme flooding, while also depicting the beauty and power of the weather.
Marisa Drew, chief sustainability officer at Standard Chartered, said: “We hope the competition will continue to build awareness around the importance of embedding adaptation and resilience into financial decision-making.”
The sponsorship also reinforces Standard Chartered’s commitment, as a global cross-border bank, to support communities and businesses as they build long-term resilience, especially in markets that are acutely vulnerable to the negative effects of extreme weather.
In particular, the bank connects corporate, institutional and affluent clients to a network spanning Asia, Africa and the Middle East—regions that face some of the most severe climate-related challenges but also offer unique opportunities for sustainable growth.
