European asset managers should lean into a narrative of resilience, innovation and opportunity, according to Serge Weyland, CEO of ALFI, during his welcome address at day two of the ALFI Global Asset Management Conference.
Weyland highlighted a shifting investment landscape in which global investors are increasingly allocating capital into Europe, seeking diversification away from domestic markets and tapping into new yield opportunities.
This trend, he suggested, presents a powerful positioning opportunity for asset managers as Europe is no longer just a regional play, but a gateway to diversified, cross-border investment strategies.
Weyland also pointed to ALFI’s ongoing international roadshows as a critical channel for direct engagement with global investors, allowing firms to better understand demand and refine their messaging in real time. Underscoring the importance of proximity to clients and clear, targeted communication.
Regulation, which is often viewed as a constraint, was framed instead as a strategic advantage. Weyland welcomed continued regulatory development across Europe, noting that it provides clarity and guidance, which are key ingredients for building investor trust and long-term growth narratives.
