Barclays has entered its third straight year as the New York Liberty’s Official Banking Partner, celebrating the start of the 2026 WNBA season with a high‑profile appearance by team mascot Ellie the Elephant at the bank’s Times Square office.
The bank said the celebration was to underscore the continued commercial momentum behind women’s sports and the Liberty’s rising profile as one of the WNBA’s most visible franchises.
When Barclays signed the three year deal, Meghan Graper, co‑head of Debt Capital Markets at Barclays said the sponsorship was chosen as a sign of the bank’s link with the New York community.
“New York is our home and the centre of the financial world. Our sponsorship of the New York Liberty reiterates our pride in powering the people and communities that are the heartbeat of New York.”
Barclays first became the Liberty’s Official Banking Partner in 2024 in what the team described as one of the largest sponsorship investments in franchise history.
The agreement included a marquee jersey‑patch placement and a commitment to expand community programming, particularly through the Good Shepherd Services Rebound Program, which uses basketball to teach employability and life skills to young New Yorkers.
The partnership has been designed to align with Barclays’ broader global strategy to invest in women’s sports, including its title sponsorship of the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays WSL2 in the UK.
As the 2026 season begins, Barclays and the Liberty continue to position their partnership as a long‑term investment in visibility, inclusion, and community impact—on the court, in the workplace, and across New York City.
