The Association of British Insurers Investment Delivery Forum has launched a short film illustrating the positive impact its members could have on the development of green infrastructure in the UK.
The animated film, ‘The Power of Pensions’, shows how the UK’s insurance and long-term savings industry could help fund the construction of elements that are vital to pivot the domestic economy towards a more sustainable future.
It aims to explain the importance of pension investment in large-scale infrastructure, and how these investments could be a key part of the net–zero roadmap, said Ellie Thomson, marketing and brand manager, the Association of British Insurers.
“Our industry has an essential role to play in meeting net zero targets and so we’ve created ‘The Power of Pensions’ animation to help communicate this with customers across the nation,” said Thomson.
It uses two animated robins to tell the story of how pensions and other long-term savings vehicles are helping the swap to green energy and funding projects that will help the UK grow.
The characters note changes, such as making homes more energy efficient, the building of solar parks, carbon capture facilities and more.
“The relationship between the two robins is designed to deliver this sustainability message in an engaging and thought-provoking way,” Thomson added.
The animation was created with Outmost Media and will be deployed across digital channels over the summer to support the wider campaigns of the Investment Delivery Forum.
Thomson said: “Reforms of Solvency II regulation will help unlock £100billion of investment over the next 10 years and so the optimism in the piece was a purposeful choice, given the potential power of pensions to transform our world for the better.”
The investment Delivery Forum brings together some of the nation’s largest insurers and long-term savings providers, including Aviva, Rothesay, M&G plc, Phoenix Group, Lloyds Banking Group, Royal London and Just Group. It was founded to was formed to help the UK grow and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
