Aon has announced its latest environmental initiatives as part of its environmental impact programme which will support protection of coastlines and water resources.
Earlier this year, the professional services group outlined its company-wide targets which included an explicit commitment to partnerships which tackle “the complex and interrelated challenges of nature and climate change”.
On Friday (1 November), the group announced its latest initiative which will see it sponsor a programme in New Zealand to support three charitable organisations linked to environmental sustainability and the protection of coastal communities.
“At Aon, we are focused on shaping better decisions and supporting communities to thrive,” Melissa Cantel, chief executive officer of Aon New Zealand said.
“I am excited to officially announce Aon’s sponsorship of Surf Life Saving New Zealand, the Spirit of Adventure Trust and Sustainable Coastlines. We can’t wait to see our shared purposes come to life as we work together to protect and enrich the lives of people across the motu, in and around the water.”
This is the latest in a series of Aon-supported campaigns for oceans and coastal protections which has previously included programmes in Japan, Spain and the UK.
Ben Knight, engagement director for sustainable coastlines, said: “We all want cleaner beaches and to achieve this we need to reach as many people and places as possible.
“Aon’s support enables us to work alongside Spirit of Adventure Trust to bring our national litter monitoring program, Litter Intelligence, to their voyagers. The voyagers will collect litter data on their trip and can take what they have learned to continue litter-monitoring in their own communities”.
