Barclays has strengthened its commitment to cricket at all levels through a new partnership with London Spirit, The Hundred franchise based at Lord’s.
The agreement sees Barclays become principal partner of the team, deepening the bank’s presence across the cricketing ecosystem at Lord’s, from elite competition to grassroots participation. It follows a separate deal earlier this month in which Barclays was named principal partner of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the owners of Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The partnership also reflects Barclays’ wider ambition to improve access to sport, building on its existing involvement in football and tennis.
Founded in 2019, London Spirit represents a modern approach to cricket, combining the sport’s traditions with a more innovative format designed to appeal to broader and more diverse audiences. As a brand shaped by both heritage and progress, Barclays’ backing, alongside co-owners MCC and US investment group Tech Titans, aims to support the team’s continued growth and focus on inclusivity.
As part of the sponsorship, Barclays’ branding will appear on the front of London Spirit’s playing kit and merchandise across all matches.
C.S Venkatakrishnan, group chief executive of Barclays, said: “This marks another milestone for Barclays as we expand our presence at Lord’s by becoming principal partner of London Spirit. We are proud to broaden and deepen the fan base of the game through our partnerships with the MCC Foundation and Lord’s, the world’s most iconic cricket ground.”
