Wealth management group Canaccord Genuity hosted the annual Guernsey Inter-firm Relay on Wednesday (14 August).
The event saw 60 Guernsey-based firms enter teams of four people to compete on a one mile lap of St Peter Port. The race was held to raise money for the Guernsey Athletics Island Games team.
“The proceeds from the event go towards supporting the Guernsey Athletics island games team, providing essential funding for training, equipment, and travel expenses,” a spokesperson for Guernsey Athletics said.
“Every stride taken and every cheer resonates with a shared commitment to not only personal achievement but also to the broader community. The Canaccord Genuity Inter-Firm Relay isn’t just about crossing the finish line first; it’s about fostering a sense of community and healthy competition among businesses.”
Canaccord Genuity said its sponsorship of the event reflects its “responsibility as a firm to have a positive impact” in its local community. Several Canaccord staff volunteered as marshalls and support staff for this year’s race.
The company said its involvement in the fundraising mirrors this employee enthusiasm. It has been a leading corporate partner for the event for 21 years and also fields its own team in the race.
Canaccord Genuity also sponsors the Jersey Corporate Cup, a series of 5km community races to raise money for Jersey Stroke Support.
