Capital One has announced a 20-year extension of its naming rights partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), as the company backs the next chapter of Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
The partnership forms part of a $1bn+ transformation of the arena, which is being repositioned as a next-generation sports, entertainment and community destination.
For Capital One, the partnership will provide a platform for deeper customer engagement through new experiences and benefits. From fall 2027, Capital One cardholders will have access to a dedicated entrance on F Street for all events, alongside venue discounts and further experiences to be announced.
The redesigned arena will feature enhanced hospitality, new gathering spaces, upgraded food and beverage options and technology-led experiences designed to bring fans closer to the action.
The venue is home to the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards and Georgetown men’s basketball, while also hosting concerts, family entertainment and major sporting events.
Byron Daub, Vice President of Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing at Capital One, said the company sees the redevelopment as an opportunity to support the surrounding community and create new experiences for customers.
The transformed arena is expected to open ahead of the 2027–28 NBA and NHL seasons, with around 250 events planned annually.
