Building an event that mattered
We’re delighted that our Pensions and Retirement Conference 2026 has been shortlisted for Event-Led Initiative of the Year.
We wanted the conference to do more than fill a room. We wanted to bring the right people together, start useful conversations about the future of pensions and retirement and build stronger relationships.
Our priority was ensuring delegates left with relevant, practical insights that would help them make better decisions for their pension schemes and the members they support. We also wanted it to support our wider business goals. Those aims shaped every decision we made.
The shortlisting means a lot because so many people across our firm helped make the conference happen. Marketing led the planning, promotion and delivery, but its success came from colleagues sharing ideas, expertise and time.
We built on the success of our previous conference and set ourselves a bigger challenge. For the first time, we brought together perspectives from defined benefit (DB), defined contribution (DC) and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) audiences.
The programme featured 43 speakers across 13 sessions. It explored the issues that matter now, including retirement adequacy, investment resilience, technology and data. For every session, we asked one simple question: how will this help build the future of pensions?
We’re especially proud that the conversation didn’t end when delegates left the venue. Podcasts, videos, publications and an online hub helped people revisit the ideas and share them more widely.
We also took an honest look at what worked and what we could do better next time. That willingness to learn is an important part of how we approach marketing at Hymans Robertson.

Celebrating the people behind the work
The Financial Promoter Awards celebrate the people and ideas driving financial services marketing forward. Being recognised alongside so many talented teams is a real achievement.
It also highlights the role marketing can play in opening up important conversations, earning trust and supporting growth.
Events like this ask a lot of a marketing team. Audience insight, campaign planning, content, the delegate experience, data, budgets and follow-up all need to come together. When they do, an event can create value long after the final session ends.
That’s why being part of the Financial Promoter community matters to us. Marketing teams often do their best work behind the scenes. It’s great to have a space where we can share what we’ve learned, celebrate the work and connect with others across the industry.
We’re grateful to everyone who helped bring the conference to life and pleased to see that work recognised.
Most of all, we’re proud that the event gave delegates something useful, strengthened relationships and helped move important conversations forward.
