FREE, a creative agency for the insurance industry, has launched a podcast to address insurance’s image and talent crisis by challenging outdated perceptions and rebranding the sector.
The 10-episode series aims to shift perceptions of insurance beyond call centre clichés and paperwork, instead showcasing it as a field of risk management professionals, climate change investigators, AI engineers and crisis response specialists.
To do this, the podcast will begin by exploring how marketing, branding and storytelling can transform the insurance industry’s image, attract new talent, and drive change across the sector.
The series, which is hosted by FREE’s CEO Lorraine Jeckells, will also feature guests who are leaders in marketing, HR, recruitment and insurance.
Each episode will provide practical strategies to bridge the perception gap between how younger workers view insurance and the reality of the industry, covering topics such as job roles, career growth, purpose, the social aspects of insurance and its global impact.
The podcast’s goals are based on the findings of FREE’s report, which found a significant perception gap between what young professionals seek in a career and their view of the insurance industry.
Jeckells said: “We kept hearing the same concern from our clients, that attracting young talent to insurance is a growing challenge. Not through a lack of opportunity but because of the way insurance is perceived. It’s a branding problem,
Young people see insurance as boring because we’ve been describing it in the wrong way. Insurance is an industry that touches every aspect of life, fuels innovation and gives the people who work in it the opportunity to follow their passions from sports to space travel, crypto to climate change, farming to pharmaceuticals…the list is endless
This podcast is about fixing that narrative. We’re bringing together expert voices from across marketing, insurance, HR, and recruitment to discuss how the industry must evolve in order to thrive.”
