Sparkasse, one of Germany’s largest banks, has launched a horror-themed game on Fortnite to engage younger audiences and promote tailored financial products for young people.
In the horror adventure ‘Schwein Gehabt’ players must rescue Berta, the savings bank pig, from a haunted house while tackling thrilling challenges. ‘Schwein Gehabt’ is a German phrase meaning ‘to be lucky’ but translates literally to ‘Having a Pig.’
The game starts with the introduction of Berta, a cheerful piggy bank who lives happily with her best friend, Tilda. Every night before bed, Tilda gives Berta a shiny coin.
However, things take a dark turn when players take on the role of Berta, who is now being chased by Tilda through a haunted house and must escape.
The gameplay involves navigating jump scares, solving interconnected puzzles, and unlocking new rooms. To win, players must complete the puzzles without being caught by Tilda before guiding Berta to a nearby savings bank branch, where she can deposit her coins and finally calm her friend.
To promote the launch of the game, Sparkasse has partnered with some of Germany’s most influential social media creators, including HandOfBlood, Gnu, Fibii, Mahluna and Sev, whose combined reach exceeds 12 million followers.
Each creator has been woven into ‘Schwein Gehabt’ through hidden in-game easter eggs. For example, HandOfBlood features as ‘Sparkassen Hänno’, serving as a virtual mentor to players.
The collaboration kicks off with live Twitch streams, supported by a wave of social media content including best-of clips, competitions and other interactive touchpoints designed to sustain momentum beyond launch day.
