HSBC has become the latest organisation to build and run its own branded conference solely for clients.
The bank held its first ever private markets event for global private banking clients in Hong Kong on 20 November 2024, with the aim of giving clients unique access to market insights from some of the world’s sharpest minds in private assets.
The event included discussions on private equity, private credit, infrastructure, venture capital and real estate and was uniquely offered to the bank’s high net worth client base.
The decision to host a proprietary event of this scale focussed on one investment niche is in keeping with the continued growth of events as a key part of the marketing mix for investment marketers in recent years.
With external speakers including Joseph Bae, co-CEO of KKR, Nicholas Goodman, chief financial officer at Brookfield and Chris Gradel, co-founder and CEO of PAG, the event was stacked with tier 1 talent.
Lok Yim, regional head of global private banking (Asia Pacific) at HSBC, said the event offered a great opportunity to bring critical insights and networking opportunities to the company’s clients.
“Incorporating private markets into an investment portfolio enhances the risk-return profile through diversification, especially during times of market volatility and inflationary concerns,” he said.
“Our global scale and connectivity with HSBC Alternatives, coupled with the depth and breadth of our extensive relationships are key enablers for us to provide clients access to best-in-class investment managers and exclusive opportunities.”
