The countdown is on for Insurance Day for Dementia (IDFD) 2026, with just 100 days remaining until the UK insurance industry comes together on 26 November to raise funds and awareness in support of people affected by dementia.
Led by Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) and Alzheimer’s Society, the annual initiative is calling on insurers, brokers, reinsurers, service providers and industry partners to take part in what has become one of the sector’s most significant charitable campaigns.
The campaign follows a record-breaking year in 2025, when 3,093 colleagues from 152 businesses raised more than £430,000 to support dementia research and vital support services.
Organisers are now aiming to build on that momentum and encourage even greater participation across the market in 2026.
Dementia remains one of the UK’s most pressing health and social care challenges, affecting around one million people nationwide, with numbers expected to rise significantly in the coming years.
The condition also touches many within the insurance industry, with colleagues, clients and families impacted by dementia every day.
Chris Lay, chair of IUAD and operating partner at Ardonagh Capital Partners, said: “Dementia doesn’t just affect those diagnosed but touches entire families, friends and communities. The kindness and generosity shown during last year’s Insurance Day for Dementia were incredible, but what really stayed with me most were the deeply personal stories people shared.
“It’s a powerful reminder of why this cause matters so much. It gives us a moment to stand alongside the rest of the market, making this campaign especially meaningful, and through this collective action I wholeheartedly believe we can make a real impact in the fight against dementia.”
Businesses can support the campaign through a range of fundraising and engagement activities, including bake sales, office challenges, volunteering opportunities and educational initiatives such as the campaign’s Lunch & Learn webinar.
A new industry-wide prize draw will also be introduced this year, offering another way for employees and supporters to contribute while raising additional funds.
Since its launch in 2017, IUAD has helped raise more than £11m for dementia research and support, with an ambition to reach £20m by 2030.
Funds raised through Insurance Day for Dementia help accelerate research into new treatments and improved diagnosis, while also supporting Alzheimer’s Society services that provide information, advice and practical support to people living with dementia and their families.
Organisations and individuals interested in taking part can find out more, sign up for events or volunteer opportunities via Alzheimer’s Society and the Insurance United Against Dementia campaign.
With 100 days to go, the industry is once again being encouraged to unite behind a cause that affects millions of people across the UK and help drive progress towards a future without dementia.
