An advertisement van run by Insure our Future and Ekō delivered its message to the City of London on 1 November.
The organisations are calling for the insurance industry to stop insuring new fossil fuel projects and to phase out existing coal, oil, and gas insurance.
Sean Wright, digital communications for Insure Our Future, said the van will be circling the Onshore Energy Conference where leading voices from across the insurance industry are coming together.
“Our mobile advert raises attention directly with decision-makers, highlighting the shameful ongoing practice of outsourcing the catastrophic impacts of highly contentious new fossil fuel projects.
“The reckless decisions being made by industry leaders today will have disastrous long-term impacts upon all our futures, and most immediately on frontline communities,” said Wright.
The organisation called for an urgent transition to a “1.5°C pathway” – limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
The Onshore Energy Conference is being held on 1 November at etc.venues in the City of London.
Insure Our Future is a global campaign of non-governmental organisations and social movements aiming to hold the insurance industry accountable for its role in the climate crisis.
