Markel has celebrated another successful edition of the Markel Magnolia Cup, as the annual charity race returned to the Qatar Goodwood Festival on 30 July.
The event, which has been sponsored by Markel since 2021, brought together 12 amateur riders from diverse professional backgrounds to raise funds for the Education Above All Foundation and Educate A Child Internationa, helping create educational opportunities for children and young people worldwide.
This year’s race was won by Imaan Rasul-Healer following months of intensive training and preparation.
Markel was represented on the track by Alice Hawker, who combined the demands of her role with a rigorous six-month training programme in preparation for the race.
The Magnolia Cup has become a flagship charitable initiative for Markel, reflecting the insurer’s commitment to supporting causes that create meaningful social impact.
Since its launch in 2011, the race has raised more than £3.5m for children’s and female-focused charities, with Markel helping to expand its reach and profile since becoming title sponsor.
In a statement following the race, Markel praised all 12 riders for their commitment, determination and fundraising efforts.
The insurer said the participants embodied its belief that people have the power to make a difference by stepping outside their comfort zones and using their platforms to support an important cause.
Funds raised through the 2026 Markel Magnolia Cup will support Education Above All’s programmes focused on improving access to education, supporting young female entrepreneurs and creating economic opportunities for girls and young women around the world.
