Mastercard has teamed up with a singer to launch a school outreach programme in celebration of its BRIT Awards sponsorship.
To mark its 27th consecutive year as a headline sponsor of The BRIT Awards, Mastercard has introduced ‘Mic Drop Talks’, a nationwide school outreach initiative aimed at helping students pursue careers in the creative industries.
To launch the initiative, singer-songwriter and BRIT School alumnus Ella Eyre visited a London school to perform her songs and share insights on career opportunities in the creative industries. The session was hosted by radio and TV presenter Vick Hope.
Charlie Carrington, senior vice president of marketing and communication, UK and Ireland, at Mastercard, said: “As a proud sponsor of music and the arts, we’re passionate about helping the next generation break through,
“This is why we’ve been supporting The BRIT Awards and the BRIT School for 27 years. And this is why we’re now bringing BRIT School alumni and other creative talent into schools across the UK, helping their students explore how they can turn their passion for the creative arts into a career.”
Mastercard launched the outreach program in response to its research, which found that 48% of 12- to 17-year-olds aspire to careers in the creative industries. However, 39% are unsure of the career options beyond performing, and 33% doubt their own creativity.
‘Mic Drop Talks’ aims to bridge this gap, helping students explore the wide range of opportunities within the creative sector.
