Internal influencers and clear communications are key to boosting productivity and improving employee culture, according to a report by Mercer.
The finding was outlined in the firm’s “People Risk 2024” report, which sets out the formula for engaging and inspiring a productive workforce.
To create a “winning employee experience,” firms are urged to communicate their employee value proposition through a variety of touchpoints, including internal channels and authentic influencers, the report said.
“There are limits to the ‘do more with less’ mantra that often characterizes organizational change and shareholder expectations.
“Employers that want sustainable productivity gains from their workforces should start with:
- Meeting employees’ needs
- Optimizing work design or redesigning work to take advantage of AI
- Acquiring the right workforce skills and mechanisms to reskill and upskill
- Giving employees the tools they need to be sustainably productive,” the report said.
Organisations need to “craft experiences” that will support productivity and deliver business value, the report explained.
The report follows several industry-wide studies that highlight the retention and productivity of talent as a near-universal concern.
“To mitigate this, organizations need effective, competitive attraction and retention strategies, as well as a clear strategy for maximizing the productivity of their current workforce,” the report said.
The report showcases the results of a survey of 4,575 HR and risk professionals in 26 markets across eight regions.
