Metro Bank is to sponsor the One Day International cricket series, for both men and women, from September 2023.
In a media statement, the challenger bank, said the deal will also see it become the title partner for the domestic women’s and men’s one day competitions.
Major domestic trophies such as the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the One Day Cup will now carry the Metro Bank name.
We are excited by this extension to our partnership with the England & Wales Cricket Board, as it provides us with an enhanced platform to drive our agenda as the champion of Women’s and Girls’ cricket,” said Danielle Lee, the bank’s brand and marketing director.
“We are committed to breaking down boundaries and creating supportive and inclusive spaces to enable more women and girls to thrive within their local communities. This additional partnership will allow us to make a bigger impact, more quickly.”
England Women’s captain, Heather Knight said the bank had already shown its commitment to growing the game.
“With their support we want to inspire more fans to watch and more kids to pick up a bat and ball and get involved in the game themselves,” she added.
England Men’s captain, Jos Butler added that the timing of the partnership was superb given that the ICC World Cup is just a few months away.
“There’s no better time to be coming on board,” he said. “I can’t wait to step up our 50-over preparations with the series against New Zealand and Ireland in September.”
