MoneySuperMarket has launched a ChatGPT app designed to make comparing household bills and financial products quicker and easier, as consumers continue to face pressure from rising living costs.
The new app enables users to ask questions through ChatGPT and receive personalised quotes, guidance and comparisons without navigating lengthy forms.
The launch comes as many households continue to delay reviewing insurance renewals, broadband contracts and savings products, despite higher costs making it increasingly important to shop around.
Matt Cresswell, chief technology and data officer at MONY Group, said: “Our new ChatGPT app gives customers quick, personalised results through simple conversation.
“With just five answers, new customers can get a car insurance estimate. Existing customers can re‑run quotes using information they have already shared with MoneySuperMarket, and the app can also help people find broadband deals that match their household needs.”
Existing MoneySuperMarket users can securely re-run full car insurance quotes using details they have already saved to their account, removing the need to re-enter vehicle information and reducing the risk of human error.
The app can also be used to search for broadband deals, compare current and savings accounts, and sense-check renewal prices.
Users simply type prompts such as:
“@MoneySuperMarket Help estimate how much my car insurance will be”
ChatGPT interprets the request and MoneySuperMarket’s secure APIs return the relevant quotes or information.
Beyond comparisons, the app helps users understand complex financial terminology. Customers can ask whether they need legal cover, whether accidental damage is included in a home insurance policy, or whether certain information must be declared on an application.
AI then breaks down policy wording into straightforward explanations, helping users understand not just the answer but the reasoning behind it.
MoneySuperMarket stressed that user data remains securely within its own systems. ChatGPT does not access personal accounts or stored details.
The ChatGPT app forms part of a wider AI rollout across the business. MoneySuperMarket has also introduced AI Companion on its website, a smart tool that highlights pricing trends and suggests when it may be a good time to buy or switch.
With household budgets under strain, MoneySuperMarket said its aim is to turn complex comparison tasks into simple conversations, helping consumers make informed decisions and potentially achieve significant savings with less effort.
