RBC Global Asset Management sponsored dozens of staff to participate in community initiatives as part of the organisation’s first ever global volunteer day.
The business offered colleagues the chance to spend time with local organisations and charitable causes as part of the company’s social impact agenda.
Jayne Fieldhouse, head of Global Institutional Marketing for RBC Global Asset Management said the initiative has been a huge success.
“As a business, creating a positive social impact in the communities in which we live, and work is integral to our culture,” she told Financial Promoter.
“Our inaugural global volunteer day is about offering our people a chance to spend time connecting with a variety of local organisations and supporting causes that resonate with us.”
Fieldhouse explained that the day of action also offered an opportunity to connect and build relationships with different colleagues around common causes that are not specific to work.
She added: “From playground maintenance with London Play Design to hamper making for Great Ormond Street Hospital, it was fulfilling to see everyone come together to contribute across our global offices, enabling change and engaging others in doing the same.”
In the US, colleagues took to social media to express their gratitude for having the time to be involved in community initiatives where they live.
Patrick Canney, head of marketing for RBC GAM (US), said: “We had an amazing day pitching in and supporting the Pine Street Inn in Boston as part of RBC’s first global volunteer day. Thankful to RBC GAM for giving me the opportunity to give back to an organisation in my own neighbourhood.
“The Pine Street Inn is New England’s leading provider of housing, shelter, street outreach and job training to homeless individuals in Greater Boston, welcoming nearly 2,000 individuals daily to provide short- and long-term solutions so that they can begin the journey out of homelessness and into permanent housing.”
