State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has launched a campaign to promote 20 new exchange traded funds (ETFs) with a US-wide multi-channel marketing campaign.
The asset management arm of the Boston-based bank launched its “Getting there starts here” campaign on Tuesday (29 October), with Yie-Hsin Hung, president and chief executive officer SSGA ringing the Nasdaq bell at market close.
The company was hoping to break a Guinness World Record by getting the most people to ring a bell in one hour.
“SSGA, the firm that made history three decades ago by putting the stock market into everyone’s hands with the launch of the first US-listed exchange traded fund (ETF), invites all investors to once again make history together,” it said in a statement prior to the event.
“With the launch of a new campaign, we’re demonstrating our commitment to help create better outcomes for the world’s investors, whatever their goals or dreams may be. When we ring this bell, we are not only ringing it for ourselves but for investors worldwide.”
The event was supported with the launch of a multi-channel advertising push in major cities including New York and San Francisco which will run until the end of the year.
SSGA is hoping the campaign will raise awareness of the new products with retail consumers across the US but also reinforce its offering to financial intermediaries and institutional allocators.
The bank-owned fund group commissioned McCann North America to run the campaign.
