Standard Bank has launched an innovative “Undercover Ad” campaign that uses AI-generated music to promote its mobile app in a non-intrusive way on YouTube Music.
Instead of running traditional adverts, the bank created 17 genre-specific tracks that act as subtle promotional messages while sounding like ordinary songs.
Each track was generated from a single script and tailored to fit naturally into users’ playlists, allowing the campaign to blend into the listening experience rather than interrupt it.
The approach mirrors the qualities Standard Bank aims to highlight in its app, positioned as secure, fast and easy to use.
By embedding its message within music that aligns with users’ tastes, the bank targeted a tech-savvy audience and aimed to drive app awareness and downloads.
