The internet will tell you that there have been 161 different songs recorded about New York City, each one extolling a different virtue or showing a new side to the sprawling metropolis.
If you can make it there, as one of the songs goes, you can make it anywhere – and plenty have.
From the Bronx to the Battery, some of the world’s largest financial institutions call The Big Apple home. Global deals are regularly brokered overlooking Central Park and celebrated in one of the city’s 74 Michelin Starred eateries, sipping the eponymic Manhattan cocktail.
NYC is also a marketer’s dream. Not only is Manhattan’s skyline immediately recognisable, but just the utterance of its name conjures up images of skyscrapers, yellow taxis and hot dog vendors.
But more than that, the city is also a hub for marketing too – and its proximity to the world’s largest financial companies is no coincidence.
Mad Men, one of the slickest TV shows in recent years, followed advertising execs around NYC sipping martinis and coming up with campaigns for the world’s largest brands.
Arguably, some of the world’s most recognisable and powerful brands today are those operating in the field of financial services. They have been carefully crafted, pieced together and are supported by the best marketing and comms teams money can buy.
Alongside the evolution to 21st Century standards of the mid-morning martinis, twin sets and questionably lax HR policies, the innovative and stylish approach to marketing has sharpened significantly.
And, for those of you following the theme of the Ol’ Blue Eyes standard, which has weaved its way through this entire piece, we want to be a part of it: New York, New York.
After watching our FP Awards grow from a flicker of an idea to a capacity-crowd event in London, we wanted to stray right to the very heart of it.
We want to find the kings (or queens) of the hill. We want to see who is at the top of the heap.
This is why we launched Financial Promoter Awards USA and the inaugural event will take place on 18 June 2026 at the Bohemian National Hall in New York City.
Just like its older sister in London, the black-tie gala will bring together more than 200 senior marketing, product and communications leaders from across the financial services industry in the USA to celebrate innovation, creativity and excellence in marketing and communications.
Entries for the 2026 awards open on 6 December 2025, and we invite you to showcase your most impactful campaigns and initiatives from across the past year in a broad range of categories.
If you are a marketer in the US whose little town blues are melting away, or your US colleagues’ vagabond shoes are longing to stray, then join us…
It’s up to you, New York, New York!
