Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) has returned to television advertising for the first time in a decade with a brand campaign created entirely in-house and produced in Yorkshire, marking a shift towards emotion-led storytelling over product messaging.
The campaign, titled “Here for every stage” began rolling across TV, VOD, digital and social on 3 August.
The narrative follows one person from childhood into parenthood, capturing key life moments along the way.
Jodie Madden, Director of Brand and Marketing at Yorkshire Building Society, said, “Financial decisions are some of the most important moments in people’s lives, but they’re rarely just about finances. They’re about the people we care about and the futures we’re trying to create for them.”
Set within a theatre, the story unfolds across a single stage, using the setting as a metaphor for life’s unfolding chapters. Filmed at Yeadon Town Hall, YBS colleagues appeared as extras in the audience scenes to add authenticity.
It marks a significant step towards brand-led storytelling for the mutual, which has 3.1 million customers and £66.3 billion in assets across the YBS Group.
Mutual lenders are increasingly using brand storytelling to differentiate from high street banks on trust and relationship rather than rate.
