Lloyds Banking Group has announced plans to rebrand Halifax as Lloyds, making Lloyds its lead banking brand across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The transition will see Halifax customers gradually moved to the Lloyds app and their accounts rebranded over time.
Halifax will also stop opening new accounts, while branches will either be rebranded as Lloyds locations or customers will be served through nearby Lloyds branches.
The group said there will be no immediate changes for customers, with account numbers, sort codes and existing services remaining unchanged.
Customers will continue to be supported by the same branch and call centre teams throughout the transition.
Bank of Scotland will remain unchanged and continue as the group’s lead brand in Scotland.
Jas Singh, CEO of Consumer Relationships at Lloyds Banking Group, said that Halifax customers would retain the services they know while gaining access to Lloyds’ wider range of products and innovations, including Club Lloyds, Lloyds Premier, Lloyds Rewards and new digital banking features.
Halifax and Bank of Scotland have been part of Lloyds Banking Group since 2009.
The rebrand follows increased integration across the group’s brands, with customers already able to manage accounts through a single app and access services across branch networks.
Lloyds Banking Group said there will be no job losses linked to the move and confirmed its ongoing commitment to Halifax, Yorkshire, where it recently invested £116 million in its Trinity Road office.
The rebranding of branches is expected to take place throughout 2027.
