Bank of America has partnered with Major League Soccer side Portland Timbers as the club’s new front-of-jersey sponsor, marking the bank’s first appearance on a professional sports jersey.
With the multi-year partnership, Bank of America replaces dairy cooperative Tillamook, which will move its branding to the sleeve patch after two years on the front.
Beyond branding, the partnership is centred on community impact, with a focus on making football more inclusive and accessible. As part of this, Bank of America will launch its ‘Soccer with Us’ initiative in Portland. The programme aims to remove barriers to play and promote equity, extending across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Locally, ‘Soccer with Us’ will support grassroots football through free youth camps, equipment donations, and improvements to playing facilities. The initiative is part of a broader national effort to encourage participation and make the sport more welcoming for all.
Roger Hinshaw, Bank of America Oregon and Southwest Washington president, said: “The Timbers are a tremendous asset to Portland, and this partnership is an opportunity to strengthen ties in the community and create meaningful economic impact across the region,
“Our collaboration goes well beyond the pitch, as we build programs that create greater access for youth to experience soccer and deliver lasting benefits throughout the community.”
Bank of America has long supported football, having become the first-ever global bank sponsor of the FIFA World Cup in 2024 and recently appointing football legend Sir David Beckham as an ambassador for its global sports programme, ‘Sports with Us.’
